The Joint 50/50 Pathway

For parents heading into equal time

“We’ll split it 50/50” isn’t a schedule. It’s every argument you haven’t had yet.

The temporary order, the final plan and the years after 18, drafted in one equal-time structure, so you can bring your attorney a full draft for every stage.

Who wakes up with them on Christmas morning. Who drives to Tuesday practice. What happens when one of you moves twenty minutes farther away, starts dating, or just stops answering texts.

If the paper doesn’t say it, you’ll be working it out at exchanges and in text threads, one argument at a time, for years. And the order written now tends to become the pattern everyone assumes later.

You don’t need more tabs open. You need language on paper before you sit down with your attorney.

The Joint 50/50 Pathway is the drafted starting point for every stage of an equal-time arrangement: the temporary order, the final parenting plan, and the years after 18. So you can bring your attorney one consistent draft for every stage, instead of a blank page.

What a vague 50/50 order costs

  • Every holiday becomes a negotiation. “We’ll alternate” sounds fair until two families plan the same Thanksgiving.
  • Every school year reopens the schedule. New activities, new pickup times, a new teacher who emails only one of you.
  • Every gray area goes back to the other parent, or back to court. Silence on paper doesn’t mean flexibility. It means whoever pushes harder decides.
  • It quietly ends at 18. College costs, insurance to 26 and FAFSA are exactly where most plans go silent.

These templates exist because these are the parts most families don’t think to write down until they’re already fighting about them.

What you get: The Joint 50/50 Pathway

Foundations of Temporary OrdersThe universal provisions your temporary order is built on: communication, status quo, money, insurance, dispute resolution and two dozen more. Read it first.
The Temporary Order – Joint 50/50Equal-time schedule, two-household definitions, and the 50/50 financial and decision-making terms for the months before the decree.
The Joint 50/50 Parenting PlanThe permanent plan in the same structure, so nothing gets re-argued from scratch at the final stage.
The Beyond 18 AddendumStaying home past 18, college and trade-school costs, FAFSA, health insurance to 26, and an adult child with a disability.

Bought one at a time, these four documents are $120. Together they’re $87.

Before you decide

“My attorney will write it. Why do I need this?”

Because the hours your attorney spends starting from a blank page are hours you pay for. Walking in with a drafted starting point means the conversation can start at “change this, keep that” instead of “so, tell me about your family.” Your attorney still reviews, edits and approves every word. This makes that work faster and more focused.

“Can’t I just use the free court form?”

Court forms tell you what boxes exist. They rarely tell you what to put in them, or what happens in the situations nobody thinks to write down. These templates are drafted language for those situations, with notes explaining why each provision is there.

“Is this legal advice?”

No. It’s an educational drafting starting point written by a parent, not a lawyer. Nothing in it is tailored to your case, and an attorney licensed in your state has to review it before you use it anywhere.

“What if 50/50 turns out not to be our structure?”

Email within 14 days and we’ll exchange it for the Sole or Split Custody Pathway at no cost.

Which structure describes your case is a legal question, and not one I can answer. I’m not an attorney. The Joint 50/50 Pathway is an educational template and drafting bundle: a starting point to bring to a licensed attorney, not legal advice, not a finished court document, and not a substitute for one. Created by a parent who navigated the family court system; sold by ValuED Sales LLC dba May Divorce Be With You.

⚠ Read before purchase

This is an educational publication, not legal advice. The author is not an attorney. Purchase does not create an attorney-client relationship, and no information shared with the seller is protected by attorney-client privilege. Materials were drafted with reference to Utah law. Statutory citations and procedural references will not match other states' law without modification. An attorney licensed in your state must review and approve every provision before use, including in Utah.

Do not use this product as your starting point if any of the following applies to your case: domestic violence; active protective order; substance abuse affecting parenting; CPS or DCFS involvement; abuse allegations (substantiated or not); active mental health crisis; international parental abduction risk; significant special needs; complex finances or hidden-asset concerns; or active parental alienation. In any of those situations, go directly to a licensed family law attorney.

This may not be the right starting point right now if any of these describe you: you’re afraid of what the other parent will do if they learn you’re preparing; there has been physical violence or a threat of it; there have been threats to take or harm the children, or you; the other parent monitors your phone, location, accounts, or movements; there’s a current or recent protective order in either direction; or there’s active substance abuse, severe untreated mental illness, or suicidal ideation in the home. Some of the preparation described here can increase danger in a relationship that’s already dangerous. If even one applies, work with someone trained in safety planning first. A domestic violence advocate can help sequence things for your situation.
